The first knife my parent’s bought me as a child was a Buck. When my children were young, I purchased them their first Buck knife, and again when my grandchildren were ready for their first knives. I hope to live long enough to carry on the tradition with my great grandchildren! With our family currently being 3/4 female, I knew I needed to find out more about the Bantam Knives being offered in Muddy Girl Camo, and always, I was not disappointed!
All of the Bantam knives feature a 420HC Stainless Steel drop point blade shape which features the top of the blade dropping towards the tip to minimize accidental puncturing, and with the blade bearing a strong thick point, it is both strong and versatile. It is up to the heavier tasks, but can be used for more delicate knife operations. The handles are formed by injection molding, and the 3 larger Bantams feature a pocket clip. These lock back knives feature one hand opening and the three larger ones can be personalized for a mere $7.00. I love personalized gifts!
Buck’s 420HC Stainless Steel that all of the Bantams use for their blades is the standard for Buck. The wear resistance nears the ability of high carbon, but is an easy blade to sharpen and retains the corrosion resistance of the stainless steel. They harden their blades to a Rc 58 on the Rockwell scale.
The Bantams come in 4 different sizes. The Bantam Nano has a blade length of 1 7/8″, and a overall closed length of 3″, which is a perfect knife to carry attached to a key chain, or a backpack for quick and easy access. I always try to keep a knife hanging from either my body or backpack to use for emergencies, like having to cut a harness strap, or even just to remove a limb that obscures your shooting. The Bantam BBW lock back knife features a blade length of 2 3/4″ with an overall closed length of 3 3/4″. The Bantam BLW has a 3 1/8″ blade, overall length of 4 3/8″, this knife features a pocket clip for easy attachment to your clothing or backpack. The Bantam BHW features a 3 3/4″ blade and the overall legth is 5 1/8″, at the largest of these Bantams, the BHW is still a comfortable size for everyday use. The pocket clip helps me know where my knives are at all times.
Generally you can find a couple of knives on me at any given time. I hate to have to look for a knife for the easiest of tasks. On our farm, everything from cutting hay strings, cutting open containers, freeing a horse from grapevines to stripping wires can all be done with a Buck Bantam. Hunting opens up even more opportunities to pull out my knife; cutting limbs or straps, cutting up a rabbit or grouse or even field dressing a deer. But don’t put your knives away yet! With camping, fishing, hiking or even personal protection, my knives don’t get a day off. All of these knives are easy to grip, and the Muddy Girl Camo makes them coordinate with a lot of our lifestyle camo.
With the 4 sizes of Bantam knives available, you are sure to find 1 or 2 (or even more) that are perfect for your every outdoor need, and at these prices, I tend to keep several on hand!
