CarboMask Face Paint by JoAnn Herbert

Face paint and I have never gotten along.  I have found some products to be messy or stain both my clothes and skin. I then resorted to face masks which leads me to fidget with the position of the face mask.  I also don’t like the way a face mask feels against my cheek when I pull back my bow and try to anchor in. Fidgeting and hunting are not a good mix. However with my fair skin, there is no denying that I need some type of concealment. By mid-October, any type of summer tan I might have had is gone and my face can sometimes glow like a bulb from the inside of a darkened ground blind. My first introduction to CarboMask was at the 2015 ATA show. Again, not being crazy about the idea of usig face paint, I really was not susceptible to the idea but I broke down and tried CarboMask. Maybe it was better that I did the product review as I was ready to pick this product apart. Now that I’ve tried it? I love it!  Honestly, it goes on smooth and wipes off completely and easily enough that I can leave the woods, change my clothes, wipe off my face and head out to either eat at a restaurant or shop. I don’t necessarily have to head straight home to scrub off my face because a simple wet cloth takes care of it. CarboMask was gentle on my skin and after using it several times I found no residue and my pores weren’t clogged.

One of the first things to notice about CarboMask is that just a little bit, the size of a pencil eraser, goes a long  way.  During the early season it can be hot and sometimes I resort to wearing thin black gloves in the stand as a cover up.  I don’t have to now-just spread some CarboMask on my hands and I’m good to go.I really like the added benefit of being able to mask my hands and not have a layer of cloth between me and the bow.  I do find it easier to wipe my face down, dry, then apply. But if you sweat after applying it’s not a problem, it doesn’t run.

In addition to being easy to apply and rinse off, CarboMask has the added benefit of containing activated charcoal, an odor absorbent. It contains no oils, grease and dries to a flat finish. Once dried it was weightless on my face and hands.
