Every October my family spends some time fishing for Salmon in New York, this year was no different. My husband and I packed up our three children, age 4 and under and met up with my parents, my sister and her family, and some extended family at camp for the weekend.
Fishing was slow in the morning so my sister and I decided to head upstream to see If we would have any better luck with the fish. I had to be extra careful in the water because my 10 month old daughter was in the chest carrier, so I had an added challenge to catching my fish this day.
She was a trooper she would snuggle in and go right to sleep to allow me to spend some much needed quality time fishing with my sister. Within a few minutes my sister got a huge smile on her face and pointed just a few feet away there was a nice big male sitting there ready for me to catch him.
As soon as I set the hook, things got interesting! He was racing downstream for the rapids, which I knew once he got there things would be twice as hard, as I wouldn’t be able to land him on my own this time. So the battle began to bring him back up to my sister, so she could land him for me. Within about 5 minutes my sister was unhooking him and my sleepy baby and I were able to get our picture with the fish we caught.
